What We're Craving This December at Li'l Rizzo's Italian Restaurant
The holiday season is here with colder temperatures, an exciting festive atmosphere, and visions of sugar plums dancing through most of our heads! While we do not have sugar plums on the menu at Li'l Rizzo's Italian Restaurant, we do have lots of other tasty treats that are guaranteed to cure your cravings this December.
Here's a peek at a few of the delicious dishes our Lake of the Ozarks Italian restaurant serves on a daily basis that we've been having cravings for lately. (After reading this, we bet you'll be having some cravings too!)
Parmesan Breadsticks
After a hectic day of holiday shopping, a plate full of hot, fresh from the oven breadsticks is sure to hit the spot deliciously and tide you over until you can decide what the main dish will be. We hand-roll the dough for our Parmesan Bread Sticks, lightly brush it with butter, sprinkle on Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese, and then bake it to a perfect golden brown. Add some home-made marinara or alfredo sauce for dipping and your taste buds will truly be in heaven!
Wings
Another great appetizer is our incredible chicken wings. As a matter of fact, these wings are hearty enough to make a meal out of if you don't feel like sharing with the rest of the table! We're well into football season right now too, and hot wings pair perfectly with watching all the games. (Especially if you come in during our all-day Sunday Happy Hour when appetizers are all half-price!)
The wings at Li'l Rizzo's come in orders of 5, 10, or 20 and can be enjoyed the following ways:
- Original - Tossed in a buttery hot sauce
- Mojo - Tossed in our homemade tangy BBQ sauce
- Dirty - A mildly spiced wing
- Italian - Marinated in our house dressing and baked with Parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers
Rizzo's Margherita Pizza
Many people have told us that we serve the best pizza at the Lake of the Ozarks, and a big reason for that fantastic flavor is the made-from-scratch dough. Add to that our fresh toppings and homemade sauces and you've got a pizza even the pickiest eater will love!
This month, in honor of the holidays, we're featuring Rizzo's Margherita Pizza because of the festive red and green colors on top. We start with a brushed olive oil crust and add fresh mozzarella, dollops of ricotta, fresh tomato, and basil sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. Delicious, and perfect for feeding a houseful of holiday guests!
Calzones
Calzones are like individual pizzas wrapped up like a tasty holiday package! Our dinner calzones are stuffed full a romano, ricotta, and mozzarella cheese filling plus up to 3 pizza toppings of your choice, all served over our homemade marinara sauce.
We also offer amazing dessert calzones to conquer your sweet tooth. It all starts with a flaky pastry shell. From there we fill it with either rich dark chocolate or apples and cinnamon, then top that with ice cream and syrup.
Chicken Parmesan Sandwich
When you think of the best Italian food at the Lake of the Ozarks, pasta most likely comes to mind first but we can do a LOT more than just pasta. For example, Li'l Rizzo's serves up quite a few taste-tempting sandwiches too. Some of them have been inspired by a few of our popular pasta dishes.
For example, the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich is made with hand-breaded, deep-fried chicken tenders topped with marinara sauce and baked mozzarella and Provel cheeses. Instead of placing that on top of pasta, we serve it up on a hoagie instead. Irresistible!
Shrimp Scampi
If you are more in the mood for a hearty plate of pasta, our Shrimp Scampi is one you definitely need to try. It also features the festive colors of red and green that go so well with the holiday season.
This dish contains shrimp, green onions, tomatoes, and fresh chopped garlic sauteed in a delicate wine stock. That is all tossed with angel hair pasta for a meal you'll be bragging about later to everyone you know!
