National Dairy Month - The Italian Way

Image
National Dairy Month is observed every year in June. We can't think of a better way to celebrate than enjoying a big plate of pasta topped with delicious cheese at the best restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks . There are so many wonderful items that include dairy like cheese, milk, ice cream, whipped cream, Alfredo sauce and more. Li'l Rizzo's has taken a look at the history of National Dairy Month and some tasty ways you can enjoy it. National Dairy Month In 1937, before there was National Dairy Month, there was National Milk Month, as a way to promote drinking milk. National Milk Month was created to stabilize the dairy demand when production was at a surplus. However, it has now developed into an annual tradition to celebrate the contributions the dairy industry has made to the world after the National Dairy Council stepped in to promote the cause. Because the month celebrated the dairy industry as a whole, the name was changed to National Dairy Month.  There a

Osage Beach Li'l Rizzo's 20th Anniversary

This week, Li'l Rizzo's in Osage Beach is celebrating its 20th Anniversary. We opened the doors to our Osage Beach location June 23, 1997, and have been serving the best Italian food at the Lake of the Ozarks there ever since. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Osage Beach location, we're taking a look at how Li'l Rizzo's began. Li'l Rizzo's - The Beginning Carol Borders moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in 1985 and opened the original Rizzo's Restaurant located on Bagnell Dam Blvd. Rizzo's was an instant success and one of the only restaurants to stay open throughout the winter. The original Rizzo's was remodeled in 1991 and reopened as Maggie Mae's. In 1987, a second location was added at the corner of HWY 54 and State Route KK. This new store was a more casual version of the original restaurant and offered pizzas and sandwiches, so it was named Li'l Rizzo's. This located remained open until 1989. A third location o

An Italian Father's Day

Father's Day is Sunday, June 18 and Li'l Rizzo's wants to wish all the Dads out there a Happy Father's Day! La Famiglia , family, is very important to Italians and Father's Day is an occasion to remember the key role fathers play in it, and also an occasion to enjoy a delicious Italian meal, of course. For this special occasion, Li'l Rizzo's has taken a closer look at how Italians celebrate Father's Day, and we also have a special promotion just for Dads! (Make sure to read until the end!) How Italians Celebrate Father's Day Italy is deeply rooted in its Catholic traditions, so many feasts and festivals revolve around religious events and Father's Day is no exception. Father's Day in America is traditionally celebrated in June. However, in Italy, it's celebrated on March 19, which is Saint Joseph's day, the father of Jesus Christ. This day has transformed into a day to celebrate all fathers in Italy. There are many local cus

What's New at Li'l Rizzo's

Recently, Li'l Rizzo's in Lake Ozarks went through a major renovation. We worked hard adding new updates inside and outside of the best Italian restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks . If you haven't been in yet to check out the new updates for yourself, here is what we did. New Bathrooms We took the original bathrooms circa 1989 down to the studs, we even removed the existing tile floors and completely updated everything! New tile, new vanities, new stalls, and made it flow seamlessly with the rest of the restaurant. Our bathrooms now have a little bit of Italy and are updated and modern. New Bar Area We removed the old green laminated counters and bar top (if that bar could talk...), stripped, stained and refinished all of the woodwork in the bar area, removed the existing tile floor, carpet in the entry and the drink rail along the wall separating the bar from the dining room for additional space.  Our brand new bar area is more open and contemporary.  It fe
