5 Tips for Getting Ready for 'Back to School'!

'Back to School' is just around the corner! In fact, School of the Osage starts back up on August 20th and Camdenton starts back up on August 19th. With just a couple more weeks of summer to go, we want to help you get prepared and make sure you start school off on the right foot. Here are a few things that can help you with the 2019/2020 school year!

1. Get School Supplies

If you didn't get out and do your back to school shopping this weekend during Tax Free weekend, you've still got time before the first bell rings. Between notebooks, pencils, folders and textbooks, your child will be carrying around a lot, so make sure they have a good backpack that can hold all the necessities. Most schools will let you know what each grade needs and some times teachers will have specific items they want their students to have. Look at your local store for a grade appropriate list of school supplies provided by your student's school.

2. Get Your New School Clothes

Depending on the school your child attends you may have uniforms or dress codes. There are places at the mall where you can get uniforms that match the school guidelines. Also be sure to verify the school dress code before purchasing new school clothes. You may also want to keep an eye open for some seasonal clothes such as jackets and warm shirts. It may still feel like summer outside, but before you know it the weather will be changing!

3. Get A Routine Started

During the summer, routines kind of go out the window because of vacations, sleep overs, camps and all the other fun things you get to do during the summer. Having a routine can make things easier during the school year. It will help keep all the after school activities in order and it will help make sure that things like homework get done. The sooner you start to make a routine your normal thing, the easier it will be to follow throughout the school year!

4. Get Plenty of Rest

Although it was fun staying up late this summer, it's time to get back to a regular sleeping schedule. We want to make sure you're ready for the first day of school, and this begins with making sure you're getting enough sleep. Sleep is an important part of your physical health, and it also helps with making sure you can pay attention in school. A study showed that students who got B's and better got 17 - 33 more minutes of sleep during the week nights and went to bed 10 - 50 minutes earlier than those who got C's and below.
