What We’re Craving in October

When we walked out the door this morning, we were greeted with amazingly cool temperatures and the scent of fall in the air. This means only one thing, we’re craving all of the fall favorites! From warm dishes that make us feel warm and cozy on the insides, to rich choices and spicy drinks. Here are just a few of the things we’re craving this month as the temperatures stay cool and the flavors stay warm.


Toasted Ravioli

There something perfectly comforting about toasted ravioli. It’s warm, savory, and flavorful. Not to mention, there’s something cozy about dipping it in our delicious meat marinara sauce. This delicious appetizer is made from beef ravioli, and deep fried to a perfect golden brown. We top them with parsley flakes and parmesan cheese to complete this delicious starter. Make them even better by dipping them in your minestrone soup!


Minestrone Soup & Italian Sausage Sandwich

Our Minestrone soup is warm and delicious. It’s tomato based and made from scratch right here at Li’l Rizzo’s. Plus, it’s served at either location. It’s filled to the brim with delicious vegetables. Cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, asparagus, peas, and carrots all make this soup filling, flavorful, and very fall-ish. It’s the perfect meal for a cool fall day. If you want to pair a sandwich with your soup, we are hungry for the Italian Sausage Sandwich. Our delicious Italian sausage is smothered in our fantastic meat sauce. We then melt mozzarella and Provel cheese over the top and serve it on a hoagie with chips. Sandwiches are only served until 3 PM at our Lake Ozark location, so make plans to join us for lunch!


Apple Calzone

Nothing screams fall more than apples and cinnamon. We have an amazing apple calzone on the menu, and it’s fantastic. We start with a buttery, flaky pastry shell. We fill it full of apples and cinnamon for the perfect fall flavors and feels. After we cook it to perfection, we top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzle it with a caramel sauce before delivering it


Pumpkin Spice Martini

It's time to add some spice to your October - a Pumpkin Spice Martini that is! Come out to our Horseshoe Bend location and enjoy this fall favorite with our beautiful view of the Lake of the Ozarks.

Draught Vs. Draft: What's the Difference?

Brew, barley soda, liquid bread, and suds. There are so many different terms and phrases for the ice cold beverage we all love. The one that confuses us the most though, is draught and draft...how do we know which one to use, or how to pronounce it? Li'l Rizzo's has the best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks , so we're curious what the difference is between draught and draft. Draught Definition : A serving of drink (usually alcoholic) drawn from a keg. This could potentially save you from a very embarrassing night at the bar! Though it looks like it is pronounced like caught or bought, it's not. It's actually pronounce as "draft" according to Dictionary.com . A draught beer (AKA: spelt draft) is served from a cask or keg instead of a bottle or can. You can get draught beer in a "can form", and it's served in a pressurised container featuring a widget. Why Does Pasta Come in So Many Different Shapes and Sizes?

Pasta comes in many different shapes and sizes. In fact, there are approximately 350 different types of pasta around the world. These noodles can be organized into several different groups including long pasta (spaghetti, fettucine), tubes (penne), stuffed (tortellini, ravioli) and more! The meu at Li'l Rizzo's has a variety of different types of pasta. Why All These Shapes and Sizes?  Chefs use different shapes and sizes of pasta for different purposes because certain shapes hold different sauces better than others. Thin pasta, such as angel hair works better with thin oil-based sauce, while thicker sauces work better with thicker, heavier pastas.
