Appetizers make a great start to any meal, and we mean ANY meal. Appetizer, in fact, refers specifically to “building the appetite”.  At Li’l Rizzo’s, we take our appetizers very seriously. We serve a variety of nine of the best appetizers at the Lake of the Ozarks. Appetizer Fun Facts


  • What’s the difference between an appetizer and hors-d'oeuvres? Hors-d'oeuvres translates to “outside the meal” and is generally a one-bite item that is stationary or passed around and served on a tray.

  • Sometimes, appetizers are served by themselves without a meal afterward. The most common place for this is at many receptions and cocktail parties.

  • In China, appetizers are called lěng pán ("cold plate"), or qián cài ("before dish") in Mandarin.

Appetizers At Li’l Rizzo’s


Spinach, Green Chili, and Jalapeno Dip
This delicious, creamy spinach dip is served with chopped green chilies and jalapenos. It makes a delicious start to your meal, especially if you want to spice things up a bit.

Toasted Ravioli
Our meat-filled ravioli is sprinkled with parmesan and then served with a side of meat sauce. This dish is a perfect combo to pair with any meal on our menu and creates the perfect starter dish.

Garlic Cheese Bread
This is one appetizer that does not need an introduction. It really doesn’t get much better than garlic and cheese melted onto a piece of bread.

Loaded Potato Skins
Picture this: potato cups filled with bacon, scallions, and melted Provel cheese. Is your mouth watering yet? Well, ours is!

Cheese Sticks
These delicious mozzarella sticks are deep-fried to a golden brown and served with a side of marinara sauce.

Meatball
It doesn’t get more Italian than a 6-ounce homemade meatball that is served with meat sauce and parmesan cheese!

Chicken Tenders
Chicken tenders are a staple for any appetizer menu. Strips of boneless chicken breast are served with our special dipping sauce. These chicken tenders aren’t just for kids, find out for yourself!

Portobello Mushrooms
Delectable mushrooms are sautéed in butter and garlic and then are topped with Rizzo’s marinade. If you’re looking for the perfect appetizer to start your meal, this is it!

Bruschetta Bread
Toasted bread that is topped with tomato, basil, garlic, and parmesan cheese. This appetizer is a fan favorite and we can’t blame them. We’re sure once you try it, you’ll agree.

Draught Vs. Draft: What's the Difference?

The one that confuses us the most though, is draught and draft...how do we know which one to use, or how to pronounce it? Why Does Pasta Come in So Many Different Shapes and Sizes?

Pasta comes in many different shapes and sizes. In fact, there are approximately 350 different types of pasta around the world. These noodles can be organized into several different groups including long pasta (spaghetti, fettucine), tubes (penne), stuffed (tortellini, ravioli) and more! Why All These Shapes and Sizes?  Chefs use different shapes and sizes of pasta for different purposes because certain shapes hold different sauces better than others. Thin pasta, such as angel hair works better with thin oil-based sauce, while thicker sauces work better with thicker, heavier pastas.
