Appetizers Hearty Enough to Make a Meal!

The definition of the word appetizer is "a small portion of a food or drink served before or at the beginning of a meal to stimulate the desire to eat; any small portion that stimulates a desire for more or that indicates more is to come." 

 Well, here at Li'l Rizzo's our appetizers can fit that description if you're sharing a plate with the table before your main meal. Of course, the appetizers you'll get at our Lake of the Ozarks Italian restaurant are anything but "small" and they are hearty enough to enjoy as a main dish if you don't feel like sharing!

Spinach, Green Chili, & Jalapeno Dip
A creamy, cheese dip with spinach, green chilies, and jalapenos served with nacho chips

Garlic Cheese Bread
Sliced French bread topped with butter and a blend of mozzarella and Provel cheese

Traditional Bruschetta
Sliced French bread topped with butter and a parmesan, basil, garlic, and olive oil spread, then finished with diced tomato and green onions


Cheese Sticks
Mozzarella sticks deep-fried and sprinkled with parsley flakes and parmesan cheese, served with a side of marinara

Loaded Potato Skins
Potato "cups" filled with bacon, green onion, Provel & mozzarella cheese, and served with sour cream 

Toasted Ravioli
Beef ravioli deep-fried to a golden brown topped with parsley flakes and parmesan cheese, served with a side of meat sauce


Portobello Mushrooms
Sliced Portobello mushrooms sauteed in a Worcestershire-based sauce with garlic, butter, and green onions

Meatball
A homemade meatball topped with chunky meat sauce and sprinkled with parmesan cheese and parsley


Chicken Tenders
Hand-breaded and deep-fried to a golden brown, served with a side of sweet and tangy mustard-based BBQ sauce or tossed in your favorite wing sauce

Wings
Our irresistible chicken wings are available in orders of 6 or 12 and can be served in the following varieties:
Original - Tossed in a butter hot sauce
Mojo - Tossed in a tangy BBQ sauce
Dirty - A dry mildly spiced wing
Italian - Award-winning wings marinated in our house dressing, baked and tossed in parmesan cheese and crushed red peppers

This week our dining room is still closed but you can get all of your Li'l Rizzo's favorites from the kitchen to-go with our curbside pickup at the Lake of the Ozarks. Call the location closest to you, use our convenient "Lil Rizzos" mobile app, or order Li'l Rizzo's online. 

The weather has been beautiful lately and we're all anxious to get outside. Consider ordering a few of the dishes off of our appetizer list, pack them into a basket, and enjoy a lovely spring picnic! Draught Vs. Draft: What's the Difference?

Brew, barley soda, liquid bread, and suds. There are so many different terms and phrases for the ice cold beverage we all love. The one that confuses us the most though, is draught and draft...how do we know which one to use, or how to pronounce it? Li'l Rizzo's has the best bar at the Lake of the Ozarks , so we're curious what the difference is between draught and draft. Draught Definition : A serving of drink (usually alcoholic) drawn from a keg. This could potentially save you from a very embarrassing night at the bar! Though it looks like it is pronounced like caught or bought, it's not. It's actually pronounce as "draft" according to Dictionary.com . A draught beer (AKA: spelt draft) is served from a cask or keg instead of a bottle or can. You can get draught beer in a "can form", and it's served in a pressurised container featuring a widget. Why Does Pasta Come in So Many Different Shapes and Sizes?

Pasta comes in many different shapes and sizes. In fact, there are approximately 350 different types of pasta around the world. These noodles can be organized into several different groups including long pasta (spaghetti, fettucine), tubes (penne), stuffed (tortellini, ravioli) and more! The meu at Li'l Rizzo's has a variety of different types of pasta. Why All These Shapes and Sizes?  Chefs use different shapes and sizes of pasta for different purposes because certain shapes hold different sauces better than others. Thin pasta, such as angel hair works better with thin oil-based sauce, while thicker sauces work better with thicker, heavier pastas.
