Fireworks Safety Tips
Fourth of July is a big deal here at the Lake of the Ozarks! We will have thousands of people out on the water, and in our stores, restaurants and lodging options. We can't wait to serve you at the best Italian restaurant at the Lake of the Ozarks during your Fourth of July celebrations! There will be many fireworks shows happening around the lake from water or land that you and your family can enjoy. Along with the shows many choose to buy their own fireworks to celebrate! While you're celebrating with friends, family and fireworks, here are a few safety tips for handling these dangerous and fun explosives.
Always supervise any children who will be using the fireworks. When using sparklers, beware that they reach up to 1,200 degrees, and little arms aren't long enough to keep the sparks away. You can poke a hole through a plastic cup and put the sparkler through the hole to help guard against burns.
Fireworks are such a special part of Fourth of July and we hope you get a chance to visit some of the professional shows in the area! Here are a few shows that you and your family can enjoy!

Location is Important!
Only set up your fireworks in a large empty dirt lot, away from grass or uneven ground. A large empty parking lot can work as well. Bring a large piece of plywood to use as a firing pad if you won't be lighting them on pavement.Be Prepared
Always wear safety goggles when lighting your fireworks, and only allow adults (18 or older) to light them. Keep a flashlight and a bucket of water on hand at all times. You can also keep a fire extinguisher handy if you have one, though a bucket of water will be enough.Keep your Distance
Make sure that all spectators are at least 50 feet away from the firing location. Only light one item at a time, if you want more than one to go off at a time you can fuse them together in advance. Lighting a row of fuses can be dangerous. After lighting the fuse make sure to be at least 10 feet away.
Supervise Children
Always supervise any children who will be using the fireworks. When using sparklers, beware that they reach up to 1,200 degrees, and little arms aren't long enough to keep the sparks away. You can poke a hole through a plastic cup and put the sparkler through the hole to help guard against burns.Clean Up
Be sure to clean up the pieces after the show, but make sure to wear gloves to protect from burns. Also be sure to douse any of the remaining pieces in water before throwing them away to prevent any sparks and fires.Fireworks are such a special part of Fourth of July and we hope you get a chance to visit some of the professional shows in the area!
